3DFace vs. Solids

Recently my CAD instructor has introduced us to 3D objects. Some of the models are made completely out of solids and some are made completely out of Surfaced Wireframes. The teacher gave me a package with a layout for a small city. Simple block buildings with a main building as it's featured object. The surrounding buildings can either be made up of surfaced wireframed blocks, or they can be made out of a simple solid. Given that it will take about 10 times the work to create and surface a wireframe model I'd like to just make them out of solids. On the other hand, if creating the city out of surfaced wireframed objects will cut down on processing times for the computer then I will take the extra time to make them that way.

This is something that gets my curiosity going for how Mac would run the programs, I hear that the programs can use more volatile memory.

So...like..... what is your
question???

What the heck is your instructor doing shoving
surfs at you before solids with Inventor???

IV is built for solids primarily. The surf features
are _generally_ used to create advanced solids and allow geometry to be imported
from other modelling systems.

"Here's the files my CAD instructor gave me.
Can someone do this for me?"

I'll bet these are AutoCAD solids and surfaces and Inventor has
nothing to do with any of this.

>This is something that gets my curiosity going for how Mac would run the programs...

Most Autodesk programs are not currently certified to run on Mac OS. Be sure you understand what you are getting into before you shell out the bucks... ...I have seen plenty of evidence over on the Student Community (http://engineersrule.org) that most have no idea what they are getting into. Due diligence.
