3D lines, sketches and sweeps

Hello !
Does anyone has any literature or know about anything I can learn from how to draw 3D lines? I'm having a problem to create what I want , I got it close, but it's not a real thing.I would appreciate any suggestions.
Thank you........Tomas.

see my site (see sig).  There is a tutorial on
3D Sketches.  Also see Neil's Point A tutorial on this subject and

The links are in the FAQ
(see sig)

Thank you Sean, I have your tutorial in front of me. I guess the problem I have is little more complicated (may not be for others ). I need to create a 3D arc and then sweep the profile around it. Would you have any sample or guidance how to proceed? I can create 3D line , but it doesn't have required parameters.

No 3D arc ability yet. 😞  (At least
AFAIK)

I hardly ever use the 3d stuff, but couldn't you just set up the bend to the proper arc
value?

For another example of how to use it go to
http://www.inventorparts.com/Animations/Default.htm and look at the gas line examples

Yes I could Kent, but there is two radiuses on my arc, one in Z , one in in X(orY). How do I do that? I'm modelling a handrail for stairs btw.

So it's a spiral.  That's the only way I know
for a arc to have 3 dimensions.  Could you use the coil command and use the
spiral option?

Maybe a file I put in CF named Hand Rail would be
of some use.

What does CF stand for? I tried coil, but it's not a way, not getting what I need.

It stands for Customer Files...

Customer Files ... the NG for posting files we
want others to look at. If you use Explorer, just subscribe to:
autodesk.autocad.customer-files. If you use the web version go to the Autodesk
site: Discussion Groups and pick any group you want.

Currently the only way to create a 3d curve segment in IV is to use solid or
surface geometry (edges or intersections). See CF "3D Curve segments". If
your handrail is a circular section you can short cut most of it and make a
single sweep path on section center. If the section isn't a circle you
probably won't be happy with a sweep.

Also be aware that there's a bug in the surface "extrude to" that causes the
surface edges to be unacceptable for such use. Some of the seemingly
extraneous single surface lofts were created in an effort to nail the bug down
and don't have any use in part creation.

Good luck with it,
Jeff

Probably should have said "non planar curve segment" instead.
