3D Rotate with SpaceMouse

I have an issue with the free rotate with spacemouse. When the assembly goes under my cursor, it sticks for a 1/4 second while it highlights the part the cursor is over. Is this normal? It is quite annoying with a large assembly. Every time I need to rotate the ass'y, I have to move my cursor off the screen. I have a 3Dlabs Oxygen GVX1 Pro, optimized for Inventor, and most graphics option set for best performance in Inventor (rough display, no dimming, etc.) I have SP1 installed, but it did it before also. 512M RAM, 1.4 Gig AMD.

In time you will it will become second nature. You have to move the
cursor off screen. I am in discussion with 3DConnexion and I will bring
this up with them although it may be an Inventor thing.

We all hate this behavior, but Adesk doesn't seem
to aknowledge it as a problem, but still think this being a feature (some kind
of intelligent cursor)

I feel your pain!

This needs to be addressed, it makes working in
large assemblies miserable.

I just checked and find the SpaceMouse behavior to be slightly different
than what was described.  When rotating, the highlighting remains the same
until you stop; then it looks at what is under the mouse cursor and Inventor
highlights it.  The highlighting process seems to be suspended while moving
the SpaceMouse but the previous highlighting remains.  For sure, the orbit
speed is substantially reduced when components are highlighted.  I don't
know what causes this, perhaps it is an Inventor thing or perhaps it is an
OpenGL thing.

At any rate, I think a reasonable solution would be for the graphics system
to switch into the same mode as picking orbit where the highlighting is temporarily
suspended during the motion.

It is much better in IV6. With a spaceball,flx4000, as long as I don't move
the mouse, it does not select anything. As Charles alluded to concening the
orbit command suspending the selection process, selecting the orbit command
is a habit I had gotten into in earlier versions to prevent this.
