2015- Items do not select in the Model browser

In the model browser, when I left click on a part, it does not select it in the browser.  I can change to the Vault browser and it works... but not in the model browser.

Its not "normally" like this, just on occassion.  I can close my Inventor and restart it, and all is well again.  I can't reproduce it either, but, this happens at least once per day in 2015.  NEVER seen this in 2013.

Here is a video. It might be hard to tell, but I am left clicking in the model browser trying to select the item.

I do have the latest 2015, update 1 installed.

Thanks,

Kirk

Think I've seen that before..

trying to remember why...but can't.. too old 😉

What do you have for tools..application options..colors tab.. highlight selection.

I have both checked.. prehighlight and enhanced.

Dont think it has anything to do with my settings, cause I can close Inventor and restart it, then all it then works like its supposed to.

In my App Options> Colors tab, I have Enabled Prehighlight selected.  Enable Enhanced Highlight is unchecked.  I think this is the default settings.

I see similar thing s in 2013 after I've ben working in it a while.  All of a sudden the context menu options that should be there for a component are not UNTIL you right click on the object in the browser. A restart clears it up and it's back to normal.  I think it's a memory leak issue, but.. what do I know?  😉

I see this on a daily basis.  Sometimes it happens with a small assembly open.  I can close Inventor and reopen.... but it interupts my workflow.  Other times when I have several idws and an assembly open its a real PITA to have to close everything, shut down Inventor and reopen my assembly, just because the browser is hosed.

I never ran into this with INV 2013.  Must be one of those undocumented new features of 2015.

I'm seeing the same thing on 2014. Really annoying.

For the record, I'm on 2013 and I get this from time to time as well.

Just ran into this again and noticed something else.  When the items do not highlight in the browser.... also the view reps do not either.  When I activate a view rep, the check mark on the left (that signifies that its active) does not move to that VR and the VR is not highlighted in the browser.

Here is a video

So I have to stop what I am doing, save and close all my files, then open my assembly again, figure out what I was trying to do and then continue to work. After a Inventor restart, it works like its supposed to work.

I used 2013 for over a year and 2014 on a limited basis, but never ran across this with either of those releases.  All were used on this same machine I am using now.

Can something be done to correct this?

Thanks,

Kirk

Looking at your video card call out I look up the manufactures specification and seems that it don’t support Direct X but OpenGL. This could be some of the issue. But you can see if the manufacture has some newer driver and if there is one that supports Direct X that would be the one to use.

Otherwise you could try changing the Hardware setting in your Application Options and see if a different setting gives you better results.

I will check to see if there is a newer driver available.

I bought this card because it supports both DirectX and OpenGL.
