There seems to be a bug with the frame generator in 2012. When using the frame generator, the G_L parameter in each part should always update based on the line that it is attached to from the skeleton. Well in 2012, the frame member's length will update (the B_L parameter updates), but the G_L parameter will no longer update, it stays at its original value from when it was first placed.
Has anyone else had this problem?
I've attached the file as an example. The Height of the skeleton was originally 121.370 in, and now it is 82 in. The parameter for the outside vertical legs will not update from 121.370 in to 82 in. I've tested this a few times with the same results.

how have you got 2012? I can only assume its the beta copy and you are posting here cos the beta has ended? which doesn't make much sense because you are likely to get some help from the beta site than here.

Inventor 2012 is available for download to subscription customers. I downloaded mine Tuesday.
I can confirm this on a new FG Assembly. I started with a height of 122, created the components, saved, exited and reopened. B_L changes, but G_L does not.
I'll do the same...
its not on my sub page

The problem that occurs when using two end treatmens on the same profile end still exists. It still shows the wrong length! The length is correct when using one end treatment, but when using two the wrong length appears in the parts list. But the correct length is displayed when using "Frame Member Info". How can I access this parameter? It's amazing Autodesk hasn't fixed this, it's been a bug for years and makes FG unsuable!
I have posted a possible solution for double mitred beams on our support blog
However the proposed solution is not without risk as will not work properly for curved beams.
Let us know what you think.

I tried this, but it didn't seem to work. Has anyone else had problems with this workaround. I am trying to update an existing frame assembly.
Finally something that works. I've implemented it in my template, works great! I still think it's strange Autodesk haven't fixed this after several years with the same bug. But, at least I have a workaround now..

Same thing here, the VBA *tries* to do something, you can see Inventor thinking about it, but it doesn't update the G_L values. Have tried this on the same frame on 2 different computers. Using Windows 7 64bit on both machines.
Would be great to have this working as we had created a lot of large frames before the hotfix was released! 😞
adam,
Can you post here a mini-data set or you can set it to me at bob.van.der.donck@autodesk.com?
We need to figure out why my macro works on some assemblies and not on others.
It might be a small oversight from my side but right now I am in the dark on what that could be.
Thanks.
Bob
