opening translated part for editing

How come when I try to open a translated part (nx)prt I can't see it with
fusion? I translated it in Inventor 2011 with no points and such just
solids. when I went to edit the base in Inventor it said that fusion had
many more tools to help with this. it is a large file by the way 48 meg.
