updating a pattern feature using ilogic

I have a top level assembly with several parts assembled to it. Each of these parts contains a pattern feature.

I use ilogic to pass two parameter values from the top level assembly  to each part. These control the number of features in the pattern in the x and y directions (horizontal and vertical)

This works fine

Problem is that these patterns are taking an eternity to update in the part I timed this part update at 18 minutes.

I know that the problem lies in the size of the pattern. The one i ran was 14 x 40 (560 instances)

If i run a  1 x 1 pattern it finishes very quickly.

All patterns are "optomized" chose that option when i created the patterns.

So i am looking for ideas on how i can speed up the update process. By the way I have to do accomplish this with patterns for reasons i am not going to get into here.

Any suggestions gratefully accepted
