Using Task Scheduler to run iLogic?

I currently have an iLogic code placed in multiple sub-assemblies called 'EXPORT" which exports my sub-assembly's BOM to a specific folder.  Instead of using a trigger, I would like to run the iLogic code through Task Scheduler to export my BOM in batches.  I read through the How to create a custom task in Task Scheduler?, but am having a difficult time understanding and manipulating it to run the internal iLogic code.

Any help or advice is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Ryan

Hi Ryan,

I managed to run the document's internal rule from the external rule:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rYJv-kdghVo

You could also create your own application that starts Inventor in the background or Inventor Apprentice and does the export from the document.

Cheers,

Hello,

I can't reach beinginventive this morning ("too much redirections"). I wanted to read about custom tasks.

Regards

I'm not at all involved in that blog, but I'll try to check with others about what happened to it.

At least you can still have a look at it in the web archive:

Hi Christoph,

I’m sorry, but the blog has been deactivated more than one year ago. I believe the only way you can still see some old posts is using the link Adam has provided.

I apologize for any inconvenience this has caused to you.

Kind regards,

Alessandro

Hi Alessandro,

thanks for your reply. Unfortunately the important thing on this article is the download link ("TaskSchedulerCustomTask.zip") and this doesnt work.

So I'm still urgently looking for a (helpful) documentation and/or sample code on running custom tasks. Any suggestion?

Best,

Christoph

Hi Christoph, @c_hoppen

I’m sorry, but I cannot download the zip file anymore either. By the way, in this other forum post (https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/inventor-forum/automatic-bom-export/m-p/3594792/highlight/true#M44593...), the author of the blog post (Bob Van der Donck) has attached a similar file (I'm also attaching it here) you can use following the steps from the blog post. I hope this can help somehow, but if you need help for editing the code, unfortunately, I cannot do that. In this case, I suggest you start a new post so that someone else with some programming skills can help you.

Regards,

Alessandro
