Assigning weight to downloaded part files

I typically need to download iges, step files for assemblies and would like to assign their actual weights to the respective parts. These weights are typically not in the iproperties because they are just surfaces.

Does anyone know how to assign specific weights to the general properties in the iproperties box?

Go to the iProperties Physical tab and manually type the value into the Mass cell. Hit apply and Save. You will see a new icon appear adjacent ot he entered value. It shows a hand, as in manually changed.

You could override mass using MassProperties.Mass property.

MassProperties.MassOverridden property indicates if the mass value is overridden.

There are a pair of samples on mass properties in the Inventor API help.
