We use "roamable profiles" here at school, so the students can log on to any
computer and it always has their desktop/program settings/paths the way they
were the last time they logged in.
This hold true for AutoCAD profiles also. Their AutoCAD profile maintains
itself from on station to another. Well, it is SUPPOSED to stay the same
from one station to another. And it does for approximately 95% of the
students. But, invariably, each semester three or four students open
AutoCAD to see various error messages: "Unable to load profile, some
settings from last session will be lost...", "Cannot find acad.cui..."
It seems to tie mainly to the fact that that first setting in the AutoCAD
search path:
C:\\Documents and Settings\\black\\Application Data\\Autodesk\\AutoCAD
2008\\R17.1\\enu\\support
doesn't "resolve" properly. When I go to check it on one of the student's
that is having the problem, it is:
%roamablerootfolder%\support
Obviously, "roamablerootfolder" is some sort of environment variable that
isn't getting stored/reset correctly.
Anyone else that always people to logon to more than one machine have any
problems maintaining profiles?
