problems with Network deployment...

I created the deployment file, I am also able to push it out using a gpo, but when the user tries to launch Architecture 2008, it is asking for them to validate the license, it is acting as a stand alone version, instead of pulling a license from the licensing server. Here are the setting from the print out during the creation of the msi file:

AutoCAD Architecture Settings License type:
Network License server
model:Distributed Server
License Server name(s):
aurora-utility
chicago-fs-01

any suggestions on how to fix this. I have recreated the deployment file twice already.

thanks,
dvaldez

Did you accept the defaults when creating the deployment? At some point, I
think you may have to click on "configure" and actually choose network vs.
stand-alone deployment.

yes, I did select custom, and set it up for network installation, with distributed servers, and listed the two licensing servers.

Check this registry key. What value is shown for the "Type" item?
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Autodesk\AutoCAD\Rxx.x\ACAD-xxxx:xxx\AdLM

I guessing that Architecture 2008 is R17.1 this is the value that it shows for HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Autodesk\AutoCAD\R17.1\ACAD-6004:409\AdLM

Value = 0x0000002a (42)

Ok, I have been able to pinpoint what is not happening. It seems like I need to run the ADT 2008 shortcut which then runs the following command:

"\\Aurora-utility\CCA Deployment\AdminImage 2008\AdminImage\Setup.exe" \\Aurora-utility\CCA Deployment\AdminImage 2008\AdminImage\ADT2008.ini

When this is ran the program is setup completly. Now when I setup the GPO I am only able to point to a msi file so I have it running ACA.msi, which is the defaults.

My question is how to you get the gpo to run the shortcut or the syntax for the corect installation. Or how do you push it out to your users??

The shortcut is not used in group policies installation. Instead you directly reference the .MSI file in the AdminImage folder, plus the .MST file for "transforming" the parameters of the .MSI.

2a = standalone
19 = network

thanks for the information, after doing some looking into the gpo, I found where you can add the mst part for the settings. I usually use sms to push the software, but when I saw on an earlier post about using gpo I though I would give that a try.

It is now working through gpo and sms.
