we just setup a new network
NTSERVER and NTWORKSTATIONS
all new PIII 650 and 128 MB ram
autodesk 2000release2
for some reason it is running very slow on certain spots.
it seams to be checking every little search path we put in it when you do
any little thing.
we are on a switched 100MB network with very little traffic.
any ideas?

This may be unrelated but it happened to us when we made a network change.
Along with the network change we also changed the drive/directory structure.
One of these changes was the drive letter where we put our network font
directory. Now a few years back someone had created the office prototype
drawings. In them they had hard-pathed the font files. In the new structure,
AutoCAD would find the fonts because their location was included in the
support-path. But it would continuously look for the hard-path. This slowed
thing down about 10 times. What I did was write a lisp that executed each
time a drawing was opened that stripped the hard-path.

Here's is something to check. Make sure you are not getting any collisions
on your network. We had a bad NIC in a machine doing nothing yesterday and
it created havoc for the entire office. Caused enough grief to interrupt
the WAN for that office and all offices being routed through it.
