lmgrd.exe is not started as service AutoCAD 2006

At work we have installed the Network License Manager from the AutoCAD 2006 CD.

This went fine no problems so far.
We recieved an license.lic file from Autodesk, so we have put it on the C:-drive of the server (C:\Program Files\Autodesk Network License Manager\License\licenseAutoCAD2006.lic)

I started up the program lmtools.exe and gave in the location of the license file.
Than I went to the start/Stop/Reread tab and saw no license server showing up.

So I went some tabs further and press a butto nto check the license and it displayed the next message:

"lmgrd is not running: Cannot connect to license server system.
The license server manager (lmgrd) has not started yet,

FLEXnet License error: -15,570"

I tried to start lmgrd.exe manual but after that LMtools.exe still gives the same error.

Server spec:
Windows 2000 SP4
Dual 500 mHz Pentium III
400 MB internal memory

AutoCAD 2006 9 licenses for 1 server

THe Network License Manager was installed by an account that has admin rights on the server

If more information is needed let me know.

Thanks for the help.

Frank,

Can I run an instance of Civil 3D 2007 on the same machine as the LMtools or license server?

Sure, as long as it meets the system requirements. I run AutoCAD on the same machine as my NLM.

Thanks. I tired it but seems to calf on me. Looks like it wants to be on the LAN permenantly. The unit the server is on and client - goes off to a mine site on a 2 week basis. So, since it is not on lan at the mine site, will it run on itself outside LAN?

In this case, simply add the Microsoft Loopback Adapter. This will enable a virtual permanent LAN connection. That's what I did on my laptop.

Hi,

I agree with travis.
hostname and mac adress are used in the checksum.
But, you can have a new pc with the mac adress and the hostname cloned.

I haven't tried this recently, but I don't think that the hostname is
used as part of the checksum. This means that in a pinch you can
(could?) just move the NIC or clone the MAC to another server. Of
course, you'd want to destroy the original NIC if you did this... a bit
difficult with integrated NICs 🙂
