licencing question for networks

Hi all,
We currently have 9 standalone Land Development licenses on workstations.
We are going to switch to Network licencing and I have the following
questions.

1. Some users have Land Development opened up and "AEC Enabled Autocad"
opened up for copy/paste work.
Does this take up 2 licenses?

2. Some cadd-users use Land Development routines and some will only need
Cadd "AEC Enabled Autocad" for redmark work. Does the licensing vary?

3. Is it possible to have lets say, 10 seats of Land Development Desktop and
5 Civil Designs as network installs?
If so, from what I see, you only access Civil Design from the menu pallatte
after you load up LDD. wouldn't that take a license from the 10 seats?

4. If I have 10users doing caddwork and 2 engineers need Civil Design for
highway work, are they screwed?

Thanks in advance, I'm just trying to find some simple laymans terms
answers.

Okay. I don't have LDD / Civil / Survey / anything like that but here my answers (correct
or otherwise). All the answers below are assuming 2000i or later "products".

Umm, what is AEC Enabled Autocad?? Vanilla with AEC object enablers?? Why not just open 2
sessions of LDD (You can do that right???). In the case that you wanted to run LDD and
vanilla, yes it would require 2 licenses, 1 LDD licesnse and 1 vanilla license

Again, I don't know what AEC Enabled Autocad is, but... There are different network
licenses for different applications. You buy the number of licesnes that you need for
each application. If you need 5 LDDs and 10 vanillas you buy 5 LDDs and 10 vanillas.
Running LDD doesn't take a vanilla licenses and running vanilla doesn't take a LDD
license.

Yes, but I think that Civil and Survey are different types of animals than LDD vs.
vanilla. I think that to run civil you must also have LDD so to run Civil or Survey you
need an LDD license as well as a Civil / Survey license. What this means is that you won't
be able to have a total of 15 people using LDD / Civil at a single time. Only 10 will be
allowed to launch LDD and only 5 of those can be in Civil.

If you have 10 "FULL TIME" cad users + 2 engineers that need the Civil package you need a
total of 12 LDD's and 2 Civils. This really isn't a network vs. standalone issue. The
licensing requirements are the same.

No it only takes up one licence.

No, LDD comes with Map (AEC Enabled AutoCad) and nothing varies.

No, Civil Design and LDD are 2 seperate programs. However you do need LDD
to run Civil. Basically, you can have LDD and Civil installed on 500
computers, but only 10 people can use LDD at one time and only 5 people out
of the 10 can use the Civil part.
