licence error1.1.96

i have just installed vista ultimate 64 from xp 64 and when i first installed autocad 2009 and tried to validate i typed a wrong number.now when i try to open it all i get is licence error 1.1.96 I have re-installed autocad 2009 around 10 times now and still get the same error when i try to open it.
Can someone please help.

The problem you're having is the following:

"-96 Server machine is down or not responding.
See the system administrator about starting the server, or make sure that
you’re referring to the right host (see LM_LICENSE_FILE environment
variable). "

Essentially it says: "make your license path point somewhere valid".

If you asked before then you could have saved 9 of the installations 🙂

Typically you would set an environment variable like LM_LICENSE_FILE to:

LM_LICENSE_FILE = c:\my\license\app.lic

Or if you're using a network license then to the license server: port@host

sorry i need to know what exactly to type when setting up a new environment variable this is a standalone installation in c:\ program files
