installing architecture 2010

I have been with autodesk for a couple years now and have had no problems until I had a computor crash and I had to completely start from scratch on my hard drive.  Computor is running like new, no problems, I loaded architecture 2010 and it ran but it was unstable.  press f1 for help it would close down without saving, render, it would close down with option to save after render finished.  Then  I shut down my computor and architecture would not start up only icon like it was starting up would come on and then disappear.  I removed the program and reinstalled it, itwill not install do to a "newer version is already installed " it says.   But there is not a newer version, infact Autodesk sent me cleaner to make sure.  It didnt work,  anybody have any  idea, I am down to my last two weeks of my final class before graduation if that helps you feel my stress.  I am running on a AMD Processor 64, 3000+ 2.01 GHz, 2g memomory, loaded with windows xp home edition version 2002, service pack 2.

Have you applied Update 2?

Make sure you have the latest graphic card drivers.

Try to change between hardware and software? Use 3DCONFIG command. http://docs.autodesk.com/ACD/2010/ENU/AutoCAD%202010%20User%20Documentation/index.html?url=WS1a91938...

Due to the crash, you most likely have a corrupted ProductInformation.pit file.  This will cause your application to launch and close because the licensing is broken.  A reinstall doesn't fix this  You will have to remove the offending file and then reinstall fresh.

Follow the instructions here to rename your .pit file so that you can reinstall cleanly:

http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/ps/dl/item?siteID=123112&id=14855557&linkID=9242018

To reinstall, uninstall first from Control Panel, if you cannot do that, follow one of the options below that best works for you:

To Diagnose and Fix installation problems automatically, please see the new Microsoft tool for this here:

http://support.microsoft.com/mats/Program_Install_and_Uninstall

For more information on the Autodesk KB Support article concerning the clean uninstall of Autodesk products, see this link:

For all other installation problems on Windows XP SP2 or below consider using the Microsoft Installer Clean Up Utility. For more information on this program, please my forum post here:
