I have just installed the adlm and client install on a server. I
downloaded the sp2 for 2000i. The question is will i be required to run
the sp every time i install 2000i on a client machine, or when the sp2
is activated on the server, it updates the client files to install the
updated 2000i with the sp installed?

You will have to install the sp on each machine that you install acad on.

To add to Jason's comment. If you have a network heavy install, then need
to install the SP on the server first (make sure nobody is using acad), then
install it on each client.
