Try logging in as a different user (with administrative rights) and see if AutoCAD starts as intended.

If this is successful, then it could be a user profile issue with AutoCAD.

The exact error that you are receiving is the following one: "Unable to run AutoCAD. This may be due to one of the following reasons: 1. This version of AutoCAD was not installed properly. In this case, you may wish to reinstall AutoCAD. 2. You do not have sufficient rights to run AutoCAD."

The usual cause of this error is that some file that is part of the Microsoft .NET Framework ā€” a Windows system component upon which AutoCAD relies ā€” has become corrupted.

To resolve this issue, please thoroughly remove all .NET Framework files from your computer and then download and install .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1. Please take these steps:

1. Close all open applications.
2. Use the Add or Remove Programs item in the Control Panel to remove all instances of Microsoft .NET Framework, including updates and service packs. Please start with the highest version number and service pack number and then work backwards. (If any error messages appear during the removal of any instance of the .NET Framework, then please go directly to Step 3.)

Note: There may be warning messages that indicate that some applications' functionality will be impaired by removing the .NET Framework; these messages are normal and can be dismissed for now, as .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 will be reinstalled in Step 4, and it will provide backward compatibility.

3. Download the .NET Framework Cleanup Tool from http://blogs.msdn.com/astebner/pages/8904493.aspx and install it. Then please open the .NET Framework Cleanup Tool, select the All Versions option, and click Cleanup Now.
4. Download and run the .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 installer from this page on the Microsoft website: http://tinyurl.com/5t9uol
5. Restart the computer.
6. Open AutoCAD 2010.

If the error no longer occurs after you have completed the steps above, then please reply to this message with that information.

If, however, the error still occurs after you have completed the steps above, then please take these additional steps:

1. Create a new local administrator account on the computer. If the computer is not on a domain, then choose Start > Control Panel > User Accounts and follow the on-screen instructions to create a new administrator account. If the computer is on a domain, then see http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc778832.aspx for instructions on creating a local account and http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc739265.aspx for instructions on adding the newly created account to the Administrators group.
2. Choose Start > Log Off to log off of the current user account.
3. Log on to the newly created user account.
4. In the new user account, open AutoCAD 2010. Please reply to this message with information on whether the error recurs.
5. Log off of the new account and log back on to your regular user account.
