expired license

Can anyone help me with this I got 3ds max in June and used it for the quarter and need to use it again but when i went to

get on it and work on my final project and saying i need to activate the license again.  But when i try it says that I need to contact a autodesk reseller.  Not sure what i need to do i was suppose to get it for free for 3 yrs but didnt turn out that way. Thanks for the help. Michael
