change from network to standalone

Hello......

I have a client that is taking 2 licenses of Autocad 2002 out of their
"pool" of 22 and making it a 20 user network copy.
The other 2 are being converted to "standalone".

Is there a way (a dll file or something) to change these to standalone
without the "Uninstall Reinstall method"

I've been able to change an old ADLM install from
Novell (IPX) to MS (IP) with a change of a dll file...

It is possible but it is a bit of a kludge to pull off. If memory
serves, you need to swap the acad.exe file, a few config files and maybe
tweak a registry setting or two. In the end it is a lot easier to just
reinstall.

If you don't mind me asking - How did you change an old install of ADlM from IPX to IP? I am forced to move the licence manager off of a Novell server onto a W2K box, and I do not want to reinstall 60 LDD2's. TIA

I don't think you need to change anything at the workstation as long as
the server name stays the same.

The official, supported answer is to redeploy AutoCAD with a deployment
built for the proper protocol. For sure, you can not just switch from IPX
to TCP and keep the server name and get things to work. This is because the
listening component of AutoCAD is protocol specific. See
http://support.autodesk.com/getDoc.asp?id=TS12018 regarding the
ADESKSYS.DLL. Note that switching these files may get AutoCAD running on
TCP/IP it is not the supported method.

Oops, i guess that makes sense, I figured a network client is a network
client.
