cant download autocad, i need help.

Hi everybody. i am a first year student in DIT (dublin institute of technology) and i am having problems downloading autocad. i go through the whole process of signing up and then it says it will send me a verifacation email but i never get one. i have tried my different email accounts a few times now and it never seems to arrive, what am i doing wrong?

Hi! Common reasons for this problem include spam servers at schools/email clients and mistakes in the email address used. You should check to make sure those are not issues, and then you can go here to have it resent: http://students.autodesk.com/?nd=register_resend

If you are still having a problem, you may send an email to studentcommunity@autodesk.com - provide your email address, your name, and your school.

thanks for the help but it still isnt working. i guess i will use the email you provided and see what happens.

ok, i finally got there with some help but now another problem has arisen. i downloaded autocad 2011 32 bit edition but when i go to open it my computer says the file is too large to open. what applications should i use to open the download?

i have 70gb's free on my internal had drive. my computer trys to open the files with 'text edit' and i get a message saying the files are too big. is there anything i can do?

That's because it isn't a text file and shouldn't be opened with a text reader program. No doubt it is too large for that application. For some reason your file association for that download is pointing to the wrong parent file to launch it. I believe the Autodesk downloads are self-extracting .rar files. What is the file extension on your download?

the file just says' autocad_2011_english_win_32bit.exe'. so what should i use to open it?

When you double-click it, it doesn't just run? Does it try to open in a text editor? If so, you may have your file association for .exe messed up...

so i how should i go about un-messing it up? what application should should i use to run .exe?

You will need to setup an instance of Windows with BootCamp or Parallels for Mac.
