c++ (X86) error on installation

Hi,

I am having troble installing Inventor 2012 Product design suite Premium on my new dell Precision T3500 64bit computer.

As soon as installation starts it stops and says "Microsoft VB C++ Redestibutable (86).

Installation complete.

Nothing at all installed, this occurs within 20 seconds.

What do I need to do to get the product to install??

Thanks

Firstly, I would update your computer with the latest service pack "Microsoft Windows 7 SP1" and then perform a "Microsft Update" to grab all the latest updates.

If you try to install the file it fails on, it says that a newer version is already installed. Autodesk didn't put in a check to see if a newer version is installed.

  1. Open Setup.ini
  2. Look for "#============= VCREDIST Begin" section
  3. add a hash mark "#" to the lines with "EXE_PARAM=/q" and "VC_FUNC=VCx**RedisCheck"
  4. Also, the last one,  "[VCREDIST2010X86]" is the one my windows 7 system had a problem with because I have a newer version. Here there is a "PLATFORM" option. it should say "ALL". Change this to "x86" if your 64-bit and "x64" if your 32-bit. The reason why you do the opposite of your system, it makes the install continue but tell you to download it from microsoft.

Good Luck!

It worked perfectly by uninstalling MS C++ 2010 (86).  All products loaded.

I found this on another post.

Thanks

William,

In case you get roadblocked by the next error, here's a link to the fix that worked for me>

http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/Installation-Licensing/Installation-Problems/td-p/3343703

Tere's a PDF I made with all the screenshots to try to make it easy to follow. Hope you don't need it.

BASICS

1> Make SURE you are logged in as an Administrator (see AM an Administrator.jpg)

2>  Any MS Visual C++ version NEWER than 10.0.0309 have to be Uninstalled

3>  A new folder has to be created and Permissions given to SYSTEM

Best of luck
