I had a similar error recently installing some totally different software.
That was done from CD< not over the network, but the problem turned out to
be a registry path issue. Try looking at this MS KB article

(watch out for word wrap, it's a long URL, and don't mess with the registry
if you aren't willing to take the chance that you'fll have to reinstall your
entire operating system from scratch)
