What needs to be in the .lic. file?

I got my nice e-mail from Autodesk with a whole bunch of stuff in it. What
portion of this e-mail do I need to cut and paste into the .lic file that I
point my FlexLM install to?

The .lic file should be something like the following.

SERVER pc12345 123456789012
USE_SERVER
VENDOR adskflex port=2080
INCREMENT 41100ACD_2002_0F adskflex 1.000 permanent 3 \
VENDOR_STRING=commercial:permanent SUPERSEDE DUP_GROUP=H \
ISSUED=22-jan-2001 ck=231 SN=399-99999999 SIGN=6E88EFA8D44C

Where the first line is
SERVER The name of your adlm server : the ethernet address of your server
USE_SERVER just has to be there??
VENDOR the name of the vendor daemon : the port the vendor daemon runs on (by default)
INCREMENT the secret squirrel name of the product : The vendor daemon name again : The
vendor daemon version : the date the license expires : the number of licenses \
VENDOR_STRING=commercial:permanent (I really don't understand this part, maybe Simon will
explain) : SUPERSEDE means that this line supersedes any lines with the same increment
code issued at an earlier date : DUP_GROUP=H (host mode) means to only use one license
when a single workstation opens up more than one session of the product \
ISSUED=The date it was issued : ck=some kind of check sum. I'm not sure what. SN=Acad
serial number SIGN=Secret squirrel code generated so that people can't just make up
license files themselves.

The \ at the end of each line appear to be "continued" statement so that the lines can be
"wrapped".

If you have more than 1 product (say vanilla and ldt) then you'll have an INCREMENT....
line for each product with a different product number ck# SN and Sign #.

It was working...it just won't tell you that oyu have licenses available
until you actually have one checked out. I kept running server status with
no licenses listed. Soon as I launched the attached workstation, it worked
like a champ. Showed me one checked out to that users and the number
available. Who knows. No big thing. Just glad that it works.

Did you do the "List all active licenses" or the "Display everything" option? Mine is
showing available licenses when I do the Display everything.

Jason,

The vendor string is showing the usage type. i.e commercial/nfr/educational
and whether or not the license is temporary or not.
