What am I missing? Autodesk 2010 network licensing PROBLEMS!!!!

I'll give the short and sweet version.

We had a network license server for multiple products, autodesk, ansys, solidworks, and maple.
When I tried to install the license file for the autodesk 2010 that I obtained via email from autodesk I could not get my new 2010 install to license. I updated the network license server as indicated by autodesk instructions, instructions were followed to the T. I then added in the appropriate envrioment variables on my client system. Reread the new network license on the server. Everything looked normal.
When trying to open autocad on my client I get error 0.0.0

I checked the time on the client and server they appear to be ok, checked for a corupt cascadeinfo.cas as indicated in other posts I found. tested numerous configurations of the enviroment variable ADSKFLEX_LICENSE_FILE, set it to @myserver and also @myserverip, no dice still says error 0.0.0
Logs on the LMTools utility yeild next to nothing, says everything is ok.

Since the server was a bit on the aging side we decided to upgrade since we were having so much trouble with the new autodesk license. Installed windows xp pro on a new server box, installed all updates and what not, then installed autodesk tools for network license managment and setup with A NEW LICENSE FILE I obtained from Autodesk for the new license server. At this point autodesk is the only software being served out. Set new box up as the same server name so my current client install would see it, applied NEW autodesk network license file. Tested on client machine...error 0.0.0. Checked time...its ok. My client box does have the ablility to talk to the new license server as proven by a telnet test to it. I have no clue why this new license server, with only the autodesk network licensing installed is giving me these errors.
WTF?!!?!?!?!

I have no idea where to go from here. Can anyone help?

Attach your debug.log file as well as the information from the status enquiry in your LMTOOLS. Also, did you say that you tried deleting the CascadeInfo.cas file and that didn't work? Generally the alternative is that your client is finding another license manager on the network that is not handing out 2010 licenses. The environment variable should fix this. However, you might have to check the registry to ensure that it is not showing connectivity to more than one NLM.

I am pretty much in the same boat. I am wondering if the problem is that I have a licence manger server running that supports 2010 and previous and I am trying to start a new license server with a different name to run licenses for 2011. Once that works, I planned on dropping the old one. Could it be that the two running at once is the cause of the problem?

Yes, that is a leading cause for this kind of issue. Running more that one NLM is not recommended. If your 2011 product is under Subscription, you can still use it to run your software back to 2008. I can only see the point of your setup if you are still running 2007 products at this time...

Thanks Travis. My idea was to get 2011 running on the new server then cut the old server off. Looks like I have to take a leap of faith and take the old server down before using the new one.

Completely understandable. Retiring a server is always a joy. =)

Travis,
Thanks again for the response. I've attached the files your requested along with the server diagnostics results.
When I am testing the new NLM it is the only one running in our entire network. I turn off and unplug the network cable from the old NLM when testing the new box.

I have checked the cascadeifno.cas and could not find it on the local or NLM boxes, probably because its never been able to successfully open. Checked, rechecked the enviroment variables and tested with @servername, @servername.domain.name, @serverip
The box refuses to get a license still.

This is just crazy and I have a hunch its something really stupid that is causing it.

This is a new imaged machine that autodesk has never been loaded on before so it shouldn't be pointing to a different NLM.

I hope you can see something in the logs to give me an idea or two to try out.

here is the status enquiry
I wanted to mention that I did try to load just autocad on a freshly imaged pc with NO other network licensed software on it. I set the environment variable and got the same error message.

so it does not appear to be anything on my client pcs that is the problem since i can reproduce the error codes on another pc. Edited by: rvegab00 on May 25, 2010 4:33 PM

What software package are you launching when you get the error?

Those that are asking for activation with a countdown are installed as stand-alone. They need to be reinstalled as network version.

that makes sense. I suppose I may have made a mistake when installing a on a couple.
but i know I did network install for autocad 2 times on 2 different pcs and get the same error..which makes me think all my issues are on the license server side.

From your Server Status, all I see are license Features Names for Autodesk Education Suite for Entertainment Creation 2010 and various Maya 2010 license Features Names. AutoCAD is not included in The Autodesk Education Suite for Entertainment Creation therefore AutoCAD will not cascade to that Feature. It looks like you are missing an AutoCAD Increment and Package, maybe an Increment and Package for a different Education Suite?

Douglas,
I contacted autodesk through email and listed the products I needed. Defining that I needed AutoCad
Should i try calling and tell them I just need the entire autodesk education suite in a network license file?

What can I do because I don't think they will create a second license for me

Autodesk will create as many license files, for the products you have entitlement, as part of troubleshoot any license service problems.
If you did not purchase AutoCAD or a Suite with AutoCAD you will not get a license file with a Feature that AutoCAD can check out a license from. Double check the Product and Suite serial numbers you have then contact the Activations Team in the Autodesk Business Center and see what they can provide. Call this time at 1 (800) 551-1490.
If you are on subscription you should have a coverage report with all of your Products and Suites listed if you or the contract administrator log into Subscription Center.

WOW! GOT IT.

My serial number I used, which i obtained from our contract manager was wrong...for the second time.

As douglas stated it was for the education content creation suite....

Looks like everything would have worked properly, had I got the right serial number...the first, or second time

Thanks for all your help guys! I knew it had to be something STUPID..
