Vault Professional 2011 Server - Installation failure (Error 29001)

I am trying to upgrade our systems to 2011, but am having problems on the Vault Pro Server installation.

My 'server' is a workstation, as follows:
Windows Vista Ultimate x64
250GB HD (90 GB's free)
8 GB's RAM
NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT
Intel Quadcore processor

I have installed all 2011 products (Inventor Suite 2011, Inventor Fusion 2011, Showcase 2011, Vault Pro Client 2011) successfully. However, the server will not cooperate! I have uninstalled the 2010 ADMS.

When I first attempt to install, I keep getting hung up on the ADMS System Check saying that the system needs a reboot. Ok, whatever, so I reboot. Then I run the installation again, re-inputting all the same settings. The second time it passes the ADMS system check (I have it set to only show me issues, otherwise to keep going) and continues on to the Server installation. After about 20-30 minutes, a nice little green check mark appears beside the server installation, and it start the English language pack. However, about 5-10 minutes into this portion, I get the lovely error that states "Error 29001. Vault management error. IIS 7.0 Detailed Error - 500.19 - Internal Server Error".

So, I hit "OK", and it rolls back the English pack and Server installations and fails.

I have attached the log file here if it makes sense to anybody? As you will see by the log file, I've tried this a few times yesterday and today (trying different approaches), but no luck. I will double check the IIS settings, but as I had 2010 successfully installed and running, I can't see why any of that would've changed? But it is wierd that IIS 7.0 is in the error message.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

I thought I'd also attach the Word document that contains screenshots of the error. Thanks!

I also found this document on Error 29001: http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/ps/dl/item?siteID=123112&id=5503478&linkID=9261340

However, if I manually create the user account "AutodeskVault", when I hit "Install", it just says "AutodeskVault account already exists. Please remove it." and I cannot continue past that point... 😞

Please try the following to resolve the "Error 29001. Vault management error: IIS 7.0 Detailed Error 500.19 - Internal Server Error":

1. In Windows Explorer, navigate to the %windir%\System32\inetsrv\config\ directory.

2. Start Notepad with higher privileges.

3. Open the applicationHost.config file.

4. Find <section name="requestFiltering" overrideModeDefault="Deny" /> under the system.webServer group. (Note: 2 groups have this line. Modify only this group.)

5. Change the "Deny" to "Allow".

6. Save the file and start the installation again.

Thanks, Douglas, that worked! What exactly did I change? We will be upgrading the 2011 server installation on our actual Windows Server box next week, so if this comes up again I'm just curious as to what I did there...

Also, while it did install, the Content Center Libraries for Inventor 2011 did not (Error: MigrateKnowledgeVaultMaster:Error code -1). Is this because I already have the content center installed from 2010? I have opened up ADMS 2011 since then and it is currently running through all of the migrations (so far so good, it migrated all the databases and is now on 7 of 9 of the content library databases) so it seems OK? Anyways, this is just an old Vault anyways that is only used if we need to reference old data, or if I need to run functionality testing, so I'm not too worried if something with these libraries did not install properly.

Thanks for your help!

Scottt

PS. Just as I finished this, the libraries and databases all migrated successfully and it all looks A-OK, so thanks!

I inquired about the change in value between Deny and Allow here and the response I got was that the setting is Allow by default and that it might have been changed by an Admin or a Microsoft Hotfix.

For the Content Center issue I have two ideas:

1. Go onto the DVD or Download and try to run the ContentLibrarySetup executable in \x86\LibraryContent.

2. Manually extract the MDF and LDF files from the ZIP's in the \x86\LibraryContent folder and attach them inside of the server console.

I am having this problem on a Windows 7 machine.  I checked the applicationHost.config file and it is set to allow.

Any other ideas?

TIA

Scott
