Using Express Tools w/MDT6 in a network-based license...

I will soon have a network-based licensed Mechanical Desktop as opposed to having the software on one's hard drive. I have used Express Tools in the past and have requested that my lead engineer purchase it. Will it work in this config?

Thanx!

Yes. I'm using it successfully right now.

BTW, do you mean network licenses with network heavy install (acad.exe on
server) or local install (acad.exe on local machine)? There is a really,
really big difference. If you have a heavy network install, be prepared for
autocad to run slower and your users to complain. You can still do network
licensing but have all of autocad installed on the local machine, making it
run faster. That's the configuration we are using.

There are also other problems with the network heavy install. For instance,
if you need/want to isntall a service pack you have to do the following:

1) get everyone off of AutoCAD
2) install the service pack on the server
3) install the service pack on each client (even though your installation is
network heavy, there are still about 60MBs of files on the local machine).
4) then people can get back on autocad

If you have a network licensed local install, you can install the service
pack on each machine at you lesiure without having to impact all users for
the time that you are installing service packs.
