But everything you need IS documented. Mike already read the article that
has ALL of the information that he needs.
Please re-read the article TS55765 on the Knowledge Base. It tells you
*exactly* what registry keys *and* which directories need to have their
permissions opened up so that a USER can use AutoCAD.

No apologies necessary from you. Mike keeps posting that he is having
problems with this. Now why would you state that you read an article that
you obviously did not read? (question not intended to you Jason)
MIKE, please read the TS55765 article again!!! Yes it is talking about
performing this with group policies and Windows 2000 domain controllers, but
it DOES tell you the registry key and the directory that you need to open
permissions up.
BTW, I already posted exactly what you need to do just from reading the
article myself.

I can't seem to find it now either. I did find TS53457 which has a link to what I believe
to be TS55765 but I get a 404 error when I click on it.
TS53457 lists some other "options"
I'll look around and see if I saved it anywhere and post back if I find it.
sorry

Yeah, I also found TS53457. It mentions Power User and Admin, not valid
options for us either. Here is somthing that has worked so far for myself:
Setup the user as regular USER
Give full control to c:\program files\autocad directory
Give Full control (minus write DAC and write OWNER) to
hkey_local_machine\software
Give Full control to hkey_local_machine\software\autodesk
Still get the annoying "Failed to update registry, please use regedit"
message, but the program seems to run flawlessly after that.
If you can find a copy of that old TS55765 please do post it.
Thanks

Autodesk knows about this broken link. Also check out these topics in the
Autocad.2000general NG:
1) "Windows 2000 permissions work around" dated 1/22/2001
2) "Power User Required?" dated 1/18/2001
A copy of this missing article was posted by Shaan Hurley in the "Windows
2000 permiss....." discussion.
