Upgrading license manager

I did not do the initial setup so this is new to me.
We have one license server for our R14 seats
Another for our200x based machines of autocad 2002, Map 5
and ldt3

What I need to do is install/update the license manager to allow
our new seats of 2004 and map 2004.

Is there any tricks/ issues that I should be aware of?

You must update the FLEXLM with the one one given in Autocad 2004.
Backup the directory Autodesk license manager.
Desinstall the Flexlm.
Install the new one.
Ask for a new autorisation license file for your 200x products. ( You can do
it first. Simply give the ethernet adress of your server, the serial number
and the number of licences of your autodesk products.)

No.
But for your 2004 licences, you will need a new file.
Use it and the 200x section in this file.

huh I don't understand what you mean?

I have an existing license server with 2002, map5, ldt3 licenses.
I want to upgrade only 2 map5 licenses to map 2004 for testing of map 2004

If you want use your 2004 licenses, you need to update your FlexLM.
Ask for a new license file for your Map 2004.
Normally, they will give you a file with one section for Map 2004 (2 seats).
And another section to downgrade the number of licenses of Map5.
If no section for Map5, add the section of your actual license file in the
new file of Map2004.
Do it for 2002 and Ldt3.

so for the software that is not being updated I should past in the old .lic file?

Right now all we want to do is test the new acad 2004 based products. Everything
else we want to stay the same. We are not updating any of the production people at
this time, so all the old stuff stays the same.

If you want test the new acad2004 based products, just make a standalone
install.
You can't test if you do a network install. (I never see it)

We have network seats, not stand alone. From what I know downgrading
a network seat to a stand alone costs $100. Then to convert a standalone back
to a network seat costs another $300. This is for autocad. Vertical product cost more.

Thankx for the doc
