    Upgrading PC

Before I move ahead with a PC upgrade, I need to know I'll be able to re-install my versions of AutoCAD.

I'm moving from Win XP to Win 7 Ultimate. I'm also changing the operating system hard disk drive to a solid state drive, bumping up the RAM to 12 Gig, and adding in a BRD optical drive.

I have AutoCAD 2006 to run a 3rd party app

    I also have AutoCAD 2012

Will any of this be a problem to re-install on my upgraded PC? Will I have any problems with getting the AutoCAD 2006 license? I've heard that with older versions, Autodesk doesn't like giving out licenses.

    Thanks for the help/recommendations

You should not have any problems with your licenses that are under Subscription.  You should be able to reinstall your 2012 and up to three versions back without any problems.  You can also use the license transfer utility if you choose, however, it is problematic at best.

As for your older software, you will very likely be unable to license it as its term has expired.  This is unless AutoCAD 2006 hasn't already been upgraded.  It also obviously does not affect network licensed versions, but it sounds like you have stand-alone.

NOTE:  Only Autodesk 2010 products and newer are supported for Windows 7.  For your older AutoCAD, you might consider Windows XP Mode as a virtual option.  Otherwise, you should just put it to bed.

If you have problems with activation, please call Autodesk Product Registration and Authorization:

My version of 2006 is a stand alone licence. I had a subscription and received versions 2007, 2008 & 2009. But I never installed the 2007, 2008 or 2009 as none of them would have worked with my 3rd party software.

So would I be able to install this and get a licence?

Unlikely since it was upgraded under Subscription.  Though, you might have a good reason to get an exception from Autodesk.  There are no guarantees though.  Might contact your reseller for help.

As Travis mentioned, AutoCAD 2006 is not tested/supported on Windows 7.
