I currently have 21 r14 adlm licenses and I want to upgrade only three of those licenses to Acad2000, so 18 r14 licenses and 3 2000 licenses coexist on the same NT 4.0 sp5 server. I would like a step-by-step guide or some assurance on the process of upgrading before I attempt anything. A website address or reply post would be extremely helpful! The next step I can do is to pick up the phone and call tech support, but I would like to hear from someone who has done it already. Thanks!

As far as a website or something I don't have anything but I've done a
similar upgrade and it's no problem. You will have to boot the adlm server
when you install the a2k adlm (I think???). Steps are as follows

1. Backup everything
2. Install the a2k version of the adlm on the adlm server.
3. Verify that the adlm is granting licenses to clients
4. Get the server code from the adlm server.
5. Get all of your new and old serial number information together.
6. Call Autodesk's 1-800 number to get license codes. (follow the phone
maze to get to the server auth codes part). Tell them that you need to get
an auth code for your 3 new a2k licenses, give them the serial numbers. I
think that you are allowed to run both r14 and a2k for 60 days on the same
license so you can (in theory, this is my interpretation, not autodesk's)
leave all 21 r14 licenses running for 60 days, but as long as you've made it
through the phone maze get the new auth code for 18 licenses of r14 (to
replace the 21 r14's).
7. Back to the server and type in the new auth code for the 3 licenses of
a2k.
8. See if the clients can run a2k using the adlm
9. Run another backup just for fun
10. Type in the new auth code for your 18 licenses of R14

You're done

Jason's method looks pretty good except that you may not have to update the
AdLM itself. Take a look at

In short, if you have AdLM 5.0.1c, you are OK If you have AdLM 4.1.3, you
should update AdLM
The above advice is for TCP/IP. There is no difference between R14.01 AdLM
and AutoCAD 2000 AdLMs fir IPX.
When entering auth codes, the TCP/IP AdLM does not have to be stopped. The
IPX version must be unloaded and reloaded after the auth codes have been
entered.
