No. You can combine License files. But you can not open more that the total
Licenses you have. So If you have 5 files and you upgrade one to 2008. If
there are 5 licenses of 2007 in use. Then you have to wait for a free
license to open 2008.

I did mine exactly as Jimmy suggested. Worked very well. I didn't ever stop
the server. Just re-read the file. I don't remember if his blog addresses
combining the license file. And "of course" I'm blocked from it at work
because it contains the evil word BLOG in he address.

Once you get the new 2008 license file. A simple copy/paste from that file
to the end of your existing license file will do it. Keep backups of both
files until you know everything is fine.

Allen, i have made as you have said, but if Autocad2008.lic is loaded on LMtools, work only the clients with autocad2008, the clients with autocad 2007 don't work, i return to Autocad2007.lic loaded and work only 2007...
also I have tried to create a new service for 2008, on LMtools,
and loaded, but in this case work only 2007 clients
Message 7 of 13

No, no, no... Copy and Paste the INCREMENT line down from the 2007 license and append it to the end of the 2008 license and save the file. Then configure LMTOOLS to use the new license file. This combined license file will have both your 2007 and 2008 licenses under the one FlexLM Service 1. The status enquiry should show you both versions.

No reason to have more than one license file or more than one service configured.

Yes you should ensure that your 2008 license also includes the features from
2007. Then it's likely to work.

I have a similar question.

We are upgrading from AutoCAD 2006 to 2008. Can I use the 2006 license manager for the 2008 licenses and still run both programs, or is the license manager from 2006 too old a version?

Can I load the 2008 license manager and load the old 2006 licenses on it as well as those from 2008?

I understand your point about the total number of seats and that is not a problem as we need only a few 2008 seats at the moment while we convert our custom programs.
We have around 80 licenses so form your earlier post I would think I could run say, 10 of 2008 and 60 of 2006. is that correct?
If I have to I could always put the 2008 version on another test server during development but I'd prefer not to do that.

Any advice will be appreciated.
Message 12 of 13

Same situation. Upgrade the License Manager to the new 11.4 from your 2008 media. Then combine your old 2006 license file INCREMENT portions into your new 2008 license file and both will be available to you.

Thanks, guys. This looks like it will be a big help.

I'll digest all the comments tonight and see if I have any more questions.
