One particular user
R14.01
One particular network project subdirectory, call it 020123\Details
Everyone has full rights to that dir in Netware
Win2K
That user can create, modify and delete any file in that directory,
including DWG files, through Windows or even with AutoCAD 2002.
However, if that user tries to open or save any DWG file in that
directory with R14, he gets an "AutoCAD Alert" dialog saying "Unable to
write to that directory. Do you want to continue."
That user has no problems with other directories.
Another subdirectory in the project, call it 020123\Civil was unused and
had identical Netware rights, so I copied all files from 020123\Details
to 020123\Civil, renamed 020123\Details to 020123\BadDetails, and
renamed 020123\Civil to 020123\Details.
Thereafter, everything in the "new" 020123\Details worked fine.
020123\BadDetails continued to exhibit the problem.
I don't see how it can be a Netware rights issue because it only
exhibits in R14 and only in that one directory with that one user.
I know of no mechanism in AutoCAD R14 that would account for this. I
bypassed all customization with .OPEN and .SAVE.
It is user-specific because when I logged in on my machine as that user,
I could duplicate the problem.
Wierd, huh?
