Unbelieveable problems with downloading student software...

Which could I be more successful at?

1) digging up Jimmy Hoffa and enrolling him online in Obamacare

2) Successfully downloading AutoDesk student software.

At this point, definitely CHOICE #1!!!!!

I have tried to download 3dsMAX at three separate physical locations using my laptop over the last WEEK.  At all three places, all three download methods have failed/finished incompletely.

I have gotten "Network Failure" screens, incomplete files, .LZMA files (WTF??).  Today I've tried 5 TIMES, and sometimes when I quit the "AutoDesk Downloader" window, then come back, the size of what I've already downloaded has shrunk considerably.

It's been a while since I've seen a website fail so utterly and completely.

neeboy74,

Hello. Glad you finally got downloaded. Download issues like this are often connected to bandwidth or ISP limitations. As a general practice, we usually suggest people try the following when they are running into download issues:

Try an alternate download method:

  1. Go to http://www.autodesk.com
  2. At the bottom of the page, beneath "Help and Support" click "Customer Service"
  3. Click the "Ask" button for the "Virtual Agent"
  4. Once the Virtual Agent opens, click "Download Links"
  5. Select the appropriate product and download

If you are using wireless card, stop and plug in. Wireless distance, competing internet programs, all can affect a download.

If you are using a public portal of some sort, you are likely fighting for bandwidth.

Shut down any competing programs

 Cycle your router and modem

These can be large file and downloads. If your machine is set to shut down or go into sleep mode, this could be a problem.

As always, you could be having a problem with your ISP provider too.
