Unable to retunr license early

I've been testing the license check out utility but I can't return the license early. I'm getting an error message saying "your license cannot be returned at this time becuse you are unable to connect to the license server" I saw a post back in May that suggested downloading the latest lmtools.exe. I did that, in fact I grabbed version 9.2 of all three lm*.exe. I tried the suggestion of renaming lmtools to lmborrow and overwriting the one on my station but it hasn't worked. Has this been fixed or is there another solution to try?

Brian,

How are you pointing to your license
server(s)?  Make sure that you are either using an environment variable or
a LICPATH.LIC file, not both methods at the same time.  If you are using
the environment variable you need the new lmutil renamed to lmborrow.  If
you are using the LICPATH.LC file then you need the lmutil/lmborrow that shipped
with AutoCAD.

I am using a LICPATH.LIC. I restored the original lm*.exe back to the way they were but I am still getting an error. This time the error lists an error [-17]. in the FLEMlm guide it says this number means "cannot write data to license server" I know the server is up and running and lmtools is also up and running- about half of my available licenses are currently in use. I checked to make sure there was no environment variable by right-clicking my computer-->properties-->advanced-->env variables. If it's not in there will it be anywhere else? In the Help-->about section of lmtools.exe on the server it says it's version 8.3c Is that the correct version?

Brian, are you using the Autodesk Borrowing Utility
to return the license or lmtools?  If you are using the Autodesk utility it
is the version of lmborrow.exe that counts.  Search your system for all
instances of that file and mage sure that you have the original version of that
file (8.3)  do not use later versions created from lmutil.exe downloaded
from the Globetrotter site.

I am using the Autodesk Borrowing Utility installed on my station. If I go to the server and try to take it back using lmtools it says error: 43200ARCHDESK_2004_0F not currently borrowed. If I go to server status and hit display everything it says there is one licensed lingered and shows in the debug log as me having it out, even with it not running. The lmborrow version in my autodesk shared folder (under common files) is version 8.3.1.0

You can not "take a license back" at the server,
the license must always be returned from the workstation it was borrowed
from.  When you start Arch Desk at the workstation do you get a dialog
stating that you are using a borrowed license?

Thanks, I didn't know that. Yes to the question. It tells me I have a borrowed license set to expire August 1.

At this point I would wait until the license borrow
period expires then the license will automatically be returned to the
server.  While you are waiting, make sure that you are not setting
LM_LICENSE_FILE or ADSKFLEX_LICENSE_FILE on your workstations and that they do
not have the new LMtools, LMutil or LMborrow on them.  Once the license has
expired try borrowing again for a day and attempt to return it.

Ok, I'll wait for a week and then try it again. I've only installed it so far one one station and those two variables are not set. If it happens again I'll repost. Thanks for the help! Brian
