Unable to install Maya 2013

I've been trying all day my system recently have to be reformatted lost everything just trying to get it back up and running so i can some some homework.

every time i go to install Maya 2013 Via Install Now i get an communication error and using the browser download only lets me choose back burner and another grayed out program.

Can you clarify what you mean when you say, using browser download will only let you choose backburner and another grayed  out program? Do you mean after the download / during the install? If so, can you please attach your install log so we can troubleshoot accordingly.
