Two licenses on one server?

In addition to our standalone seats for the heavy users, we have a total of
10 network seats for more casual users, (everything Civil 3D).

Currently, we've got them split into a 3 seat and a 7 seat license - this is
to run them on servers in two different offices.

WAN technology appears to be sufficient for accessing licenses from one
server, and I'm wondering if I can combine these licenses into a single file
that would allow for all 10 seats to be accessed from either office? I know
I can get Autodesk to combine the 3 + 7 into a single 10 seat license, but
I'd prefer keeping them as 3 + 7, just in case we decided having licenses
servers in both offices actually did work out better.

Can I just paste the two license files together, or do I have to go through
a bunch of hoops? We've got R2009 in the box right now, so this would be
starting from a new installation of both the network seats and the license
server. Also, what effect would this have on our current 2-office setup and
their existing license servers, since I understand the new license files
automatically include coverage for earlier versions? Would the new license
server take over/replace our existing servers, (for our R2008 seats,
currently split between offices)?

Thanks for any suggestions.

John

You cannot just combine them. You need a new license file.
Notice that you can have distributed licenses so if 3 are used on one the
office with 3 licenses it will after that take available licenses from the
other office and the other way around.

Thanks for the info. I'll look into the distributed license scenario.
