Tweaking 2014 deployment to not install assets to users documents folder

Hi Folks,

Our users have restricted size documents (my documents in ye olde speak) folders, mapped back to a server. When installing Building Design Suite Premium/Ultimate, i can see there is about 50mb worth of assets installed to the users documents folder. Where would I customise our deployments to change this behavior to a user independant local storage location. 50mb doesn't sound like a lot, but its causing the install to fail for those who live on the edge of the quota.

Screenshot attached showing some of the stuff mentioned.

Hhm,

normally they use system / installer variables to locate folders on the target pc.

Best is if you use orca to open MSI file and take a look.

I suppose that the installer gets the info from the registry:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders

There the key "Personal"

What you can try is to modify that key before you start the installation and after undo the modification.

But to be safe you have to check the MSI file.
