Trying to install AutoCAD 32Bit

Hi,

Recently bought a windows 8 machine.  I have an additional piece of software that runs along AutoCAD, that piece of software is 32bit, therefore I need 32 bit CAD in order for the 2 to work.  I also need both file within program file (x86).

I have tried several times to download CAD into the appropriate file - It will not do it.  It won't even allow me to change the file path name!!!!

Please help somebody!!!!!!

Which AutoCAD version exactly (don't say 32bit)? you can grab 2010 and higher from Autodesk's Virtual agent, 32bit and 64bit.

Sorry, I honestly dont mind which version, my other softwasre works from 2011-2013 versions.  I have already tried downloading AutoCAd 2013 32bit, but when I do it will NOT allow me to change the file directory to program files x86.

And I've tried cutting and pasting the file from 'program files' into 'program files x86', but when you open CAD it can't find the file.

Any ideas on what I can do?  Many thanks

If your OS type is 64 bit the installer won't allow you to proceed with the install of a 32 bit version of autocad. It's likely that your new system is running windows 8 64 bit which would be the resason you can't install AutoCAD 32 bit.

It's been a *long* time since any software more complex than Notepad could be file-copied to a different location.  I'd recommend against trying that to avoid creating all sorts of headaches.

Time to start looking for an upgrade or replacement for your third-party application.  This problem won't go away, so if you don't have a backup plan you could find yourself up against a project deadline etc. with no way out.
