Trouble installing revit 2012 on windows 7

hi,

I have tried to install it and it fails each time, on both my computers. they have a new install of windows 7 64 bit, installed from a disc containing only the basic install. I have downloaded Revit 2012 from the educational community and I get this error:

I have tried using google but it has been to no avail. It seems that it always fails when it tries to install Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable, and that is the first thing it says it's trying to do when the installer runs. Does anybody have any ideas?

The most likely culprit is that you already have a newer version of the Visual C++ installed.  Go to your Control Panel > Programs and remove any installed instance of Visual C++.  Reboot and try the installation again.  It should be able to install the Visual C++ this time and the rest of your product.

You can also download this prerequisite from Microsoft and install it manually if you continue to have issues.

My computer will download the installer, but when it is time to start installing components, it stops at component 5. I have cleaned my brand new computer and have tried several times. I can install revit 2011 perfectly fne, but I need 2012? Please help

Did you check the log file to see which component is failing to install?  Usually it is Visual C++ or .NET Framework.  Whichever one it is, uninstall the product from Control Panel > Programs and run your installer again with admin rights, UAC and anti-virus off.

I have the same problem, installation stops at with 5 components to go. Where is the log file?

I am running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit.

I noticed that the Revit install, installs Visual Studio 2008 remote Debugger which is not compatible with this edition of Windows 7, I have tried to install version 2010 of the Debugger, uninstall version 2008 and restart installing Revit. It ignores version 2010 and re-installs 2008.
