Transfer Maya 2008 from float to standalone

Hello, we have a PC we are trying to put onto Maya 2008 ext2 standalone that is currently using a Maya 2008 float license. I have removed the float license file from the FlexLM folder, and re-issued a license from Autodesk based on one of our spare standalone 2008 serials.

However even after removing the float license and using only the new standalone, the license manager starts up. Putting the float license back lets Maya open again.

How can I get it to recognize the standalone license? There were no errors when I installed the standalone license, but the license manager keeps jumping in anyhow.

Thanks for any help.

What is the error message you get when you try to start Maya 2008 with standalone license.
Some Tips.
- You will need to stop the Floating license service first. Use Flexlm License utilities (LMtools) under start/stop/reread to stop server and make sure that these service is not started upon power up. See attach screen shots.
- Make sure that the HOSTID of your standalone license matches to that of your machine.
- Your standalone license file should be lated in c:\flexlm folder.
- Name your standalone file as aw.dat
- Keep only the aw.dat in c:\flexlm. The rest of the files in there, move it to another location.

What I suspect is that the standalone license maybe using wrong MAC ID (host id).
Also can you check if you have set any environment such as LM_LICENSE_FILE, if yes then remove it.

Hope that helps.

Cheers
