Time to connect to licence server is on several computers very long

Several computers can start autocad in several seconds. Some computers need
about 20 seconds to connect to the license server. ( We're using the same
computers ) Has someone an explanation for this problem

Could be the users profiles. Mine is pretty big so my logins are long , my
IS man takes about a minute to load his. Just a thought.

It's probably a DNS/TCP-IP problem. We had the same issues here when we were
using DHCP with a flaky DNS. If the server and station can't ping each other
by IP and by name, things aren't happy. I would start pinging and see what
you find. HTH

Thanks for responding,
I don't think it's a DHCP problem because we use UTP protocol for
communication with the LS

PS We're running only ACAD2002 and MDT6

The users profiles are not big (standard) and are stored locally

Ysbrand -

Even if you are using udp it still could be a name resolution problem. Is there a dns
server on site? It acts like a name resolution problem. The "delay" that you see while
trying to start the client is the trying to figure out where the license server is on the
network. I've seen MSOutlook do this when trying to find an exchange server when there are
problems/delays with network name resolution. From one of the slow clients try pinging the
license server and see how quickly you get a response. You may need to add a name server
or an entry in your hosts file for the adlm.
