The serial number you entered is not valid. Try again. (1)

i just installed AIP2011 suite (entire bundle inc vault, acadm etc) and after successfull activation of inventor i am being asked to activate acadm 2011 when i try to start it. if i use my new serial number i recieve this result : quote "...The serial number you entered is not valid. Try again. (1)".

autodesk support are saying that it does not need separate activation since it is part of the bundle. this is true of every other install i have carried out however this time i am stuck in a perpetual loop that being, support says no activation of acadm 2011 is needed, and the software is requesting an activation code upon startup.

the 30 day counter is ticking down.

i have requested new activation codes, to no avail.

see following quoted response from support:

quote "... Thank you for your request.

(1)The serial number xxx-xxxxxxxx belongs to the product [AutoCAD
Inventor Professional Suite 2011] and not to the [AutoCAD Mechanical
2011]. Thus we are unable to activate [AutoCAD Mechanical 2011] using
this serial number.

earlier response - quote "...

Thank you for your request.

We would like to apologize for the inconvenience caused. Since AutoCAD
Inventor Professional Suite 2011 has already been activated, you can now
use AutoCAD Mechanical 2011 without having it activated since this
product is already bundled under AutoCAD Inventor Professional Suite
2011.

Is possible that a beta or a trial version of AIP or Mechanical 2011 have been installed in the machine having the problem?
We have a solution published facing this problem with Mechanical 2010, Clean uninstall of Mechanical 2010 please apply this solution to your Mechanical 2011 installation.
In the solution, replace 2010 by 2011, R18.0 by R18.1 and ACAD-8005:409 by ACAD-9005:409 which are the values for the 2011 version.

thanks, sounds valid even though there is & has been no beta installations. i am however already running AIP2010 on this computer and will require AIP2010 to be installed for some time yet.
