Standalone to Network Switch

All Knowing Ones.....

Is there a way to take a standalone installation and turn it into a network licensed version without having to reinstall the client?

Tim -

Probably not the answer that you want, but at least it's an easy one...

Sheesh... I was hoping no one had actually read that yet.

The tips and tricks stuff is pretty much just command line stuff that you can do with the lmutil.exe. Most of the documentation is
actually on the globetrotter site for it, but I was going to try and give some actual examples that one could apply to AutoDesk's
implementation of FlexLM. With the lmutil command line tools we can get "back" much of the functionality of the elan "query" tools.

It's looking like the next couple of weeks is going to be very busy. I'll have to wait until the first part of April and see how
things go.

Trust me. I'm not pressuring you to do this . I haven't
even installed Flex yet, hopefully soon for the upgrade to
Mechanical 6. So I don't even know what it's lacking or
what better tools it does have.

But I will be looking back to see what you post. You've got
lots of good info in one place.

Jason,

Right, it is not the answer I want.
When someone says that it is not supported by AutoDesk, to me that is code for "it works, but we don't want anyone else to know how".

Can you email me the answer? I promise to not hold you accountable for the results. If not, can you point me to someone?

Your link to the page stating the way to do it is what I am trying to keep from doing, which is visiting every PC.

Can you help a guy here? Come on throw me a bone...

:)

Tim -

I have no evidence that any of this works, but... Look around this ng for a thread titled "Switch from Network to Stand alone
Autocad".

If you mission fails the secretary will disavow any knowledge of you or your existence... This message will self destruct in... .. .

Thanks that's a great tip for locked version.

I looked for that title and could not find it. (Of course I also look for things at home and can't find them but my wife walks into the same room and goes right to it.)

More help? Maybe the title is different? I did see something about copying the acad.exe, is that all it is?
Come on, you know you wana tell me..

Okay, never hold the control key down and press enter, it's the same as clicking send...

The meat of the thread is

I got the desired effect in AutoCAD
2002 by just swapping acad.exe and acad2002.cfg.

If I was to want to stay with 2000, I should be able to install the adlm, install one client deployment somewhere and swap those two files and vwala ....right?

"Should" being the operative word. Like I said, I haven't tried this and
I'm positive that it would be completely unsupported by autodesk.
