Some Products Fail to Install, Result 1603

Issue:  When installing your Autodesk product, the installation fails immediately and the screen indicates that Installation complete. Some products failed to install

Install_Error.jpg

The link to the installation log file in your %TEMP% location shows that the failure is due to a prerequisite installer similar to this entry below:

Install Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable (x86) Failed Installation aborted, Result=1603

Subseqent attempts to install the product yield similar failures.

Solution #1:  In some rare instances, the prerequisite cannot installed until the workstation is rebooted, or cannot be installed by the Autodesk installer and must be installed manually from the media or by downloading the prerequisite directly from Microsoft's website.  For more information about this solution, please visit this Autodesk KB link:

http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/ps/dl/item?siteID=123112&id=15924324&linkID=9240857

Solution #2:  In most instances, the installation fails because the prerequisite already installed on the workstation is newer than the one supplied by the Autodesk installer.  Because Windows will not allow an older version of the prerequisite to be installed, the installation aborts with a 1603 error in the installation log file.

The most direct method to resolve this issue is to remove the installed prerequisite from Windows from within the Control Panel.  You can launch the Control Panel directly from the Start Menu or from the Run box by typing CONTROL and clicking OK.

To remove a program in Control Panel choose:

Windows XP: Add/Remove Programs

Windows 7:  Programs and Features

Locate the program name of the prerequisite that is failing in your log file from within this list and click Remove or Uninstall.  This will remove the program from your computer.

ControlPanel.png

Once the program has been removed, run your Autodesk installer again.  If you run into additional failures on prerequisites, repeat the process.  You should now be able to fully install and run your product.

For more information about this error, please see the Up and Ready blog link here:

http://upandready.typepad.com/up_and_ready/2011/09/autodesk-suites-product-design-suite-will-not-ins...

Note:  When installing Autodesk products, it is recommended that you have local Administrative rights, User Access Control (UAC) is off, and your real-time anti-virus program is temporarily disabled. In some instances it may be helpful to login as another user with local admin rights and/or copy the contents of the media to you hard drive and install locally.

It's a failed download. Use the virtual agent to download your product.
That should work.

Open setup.ini file and take out "VCREDIST2005X86".

Also Change:

EXE_PATH=3rdParty\x86\VCRedist\2005\vcredist_x86.exe

To:

EXE_PATH=echo

Message 65 of 281

Hi Samnold,

What exactly is the error message? Have you tried doing a Clean Uninstall? After which, you can then download the installation from our Virtual Agent

For people who have had 1603 errors on the actual product (e.g. 3ds Max) not DirextX or any other 3rd party product check that your services file is not read only. I recently spend a great deal of time trying to fix an instillation where there was no clear error in the verbose log and I eventually found that my virus protection had permanently set my services file to read only. Also read only overwrites all administrator privileges so it doesnā€™t matter if you install with no UAC on.

Regards,

Rob

Your failure is MSVC++ 2005.  Make sure you are installing on a supported OS for Autodesk 2012 (not Windows 8.x)

Install	Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable (x86)	Failed	Installation aborted, Result=1603

If the prerequisite is not already installed and installation still fails, then you may need to make an advanced edit to the setup.ini file to ignore the error. Please make sure you manually install the prerequisite file from Microsoft and then modify the setup.ini file accordingly.

I tried to download it many times maybe around four times.. for the first two it shows me the following and the rest two are different, I think it changed because I deleted MSVC++ 2005. Anyway this is the first and second times masseges:

Installing Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable (x86): C:\Autodesk\Autodesk_Revit_Architecture_2012_English_Win_32-64bit\3rdParty\x86\VCRedist\2005\vcredist_x86.exe /q:a /T:C:\Windows\temp /c:"VCREDI~3.EXE /q:a /c:""msiexec /i vcredist.msi /qn /l*v C:\Users\MARYAM~1\AppData\Local\Temp\vcredist_x86_2005.log"" "2014/9/3:06:50:52 maryamalmehairy MARYAMALMEH3BF2 Install Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable (x86) Succeeded

Installing Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable (x86): C:\Autodesk\Autodesk_Revit_Architecture_2012_English_Win_32-64bit\3rdParty\x86\VCRedist\2010\vcredist_x86.exe /q /l C:\Users\MARYAM~1\AppData\Local\Temp\vcredist_x86_2010.log

Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable (x86) Failed Installation aborted, Result=1619

And this is the third and fourth times massege:

Installing Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable (x86): C:\Autodesk\Autodesk_Revit_Architecture_2012_English_Win_32-64bit\3rdParty\x86\VCRedist\2010\vcredist_x86.exe /q /l C:\Users\MARYAM~1\AppData\Local\Temp\vcredist_x86_2010.log2014/9/3:15:49:02                                    maryamalmehairy MARYAMALMEH3BF2 Install Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable (x86) Failed Installation aborted, Result=1603

I went to my add or remove programs and unistalled all of the redistributable packages that were listed and tried to run the installation again and it still failed giving me the same error message. I then tried dowloading the redistribuatble packages strait from the microsoft website and no matter which version i try to download it says object already exists. I then get a 0x0070643 error message. Yet when i go back to add/remove programs none of them are there so i dont understand why it keeps telling me they already exist. Any sugestions?

Hi @pilsen120,

Thank you for your installation log file, the error reads as such:

Microsoft Visual C++ 2012 Redistributable (x86)    Failed    Installation aborted, Result=1619

There could be many causes of this type of error, please see this post on troubleshooting this error created by our Expert Elite and Autodesk product support. If you have any further questions please let us know. Thank you!
