Softimage crashes upon starup

Hi, i just finished installing the entire Entertainment Creation suite 2011 and every program installed and works fine...

..with the exception of softimage which crashes on startup.. i get no error messages of any kind just windows : "windows is searching for a problem..windows will notify you etc" message

i tried uninstalling softimage and installing it again and same thing.

i cant find any related solution anywhere

Hi

Do you see any of the Softimage interface before it crashes?

If Softimage starts drawing the main user interface and menu bar, but crashes just before you see the four viewports, then it is most likely a graphic card/display driver issue.

Here's a quick way to test whether this crash is a display driver issue:

Does runonce.bat report any errors?

http://usa.autodesk.com/getdoc/id=TS13783212

Open a Softimage command and see if xsibatch crashes.

Sometimes xsibatch will give us an error message that helps diagnose the problem:

Do you have Digital Persona installed? That conflicts with Softimage.

Well now Softimage at least stays open, still dont see the four viewports though.

You're probably right its a driver issue, so i downloaded several different drivers from the nvidia site before finally installing the newest one: 275.33 from 5/20 2011 and still no change.

is there a specific driver i should install that works best with softimage or something?

the runonce.bat didnt work.. it just says that a file called "crosswalk_5.0.64.dll" is missing and to reinstall..which i did and it still says the same thing

and i dont have anything called digital persona installed on this workstation, so that cant be the problem

Hi

Your specific card hasn't been tested or certified, but for other NVidia cards, the recommended driver  is:

Nvidia Driver Release 270.51 [8.17.12.7051]

For the runonce.bat error, your PATH environment variable is probably missing the Softimage Common Files:

  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Softimage;
  • C:\Program Files\Common Files\Softimage;

http://xsisupport.wordpress.com/2011/02/27/runonce-bat-cannot-start-because-crosswalk-is-missing/

Did you try running xsibatch? What happened?
