I'm having trouble with ADLM for Autodesk Smoke 2012 for Mac OSX 10.6.7
I've installed the License Server locally and requested and installed my license.
The problem seems to be that the ADLM refuses to start.
If i use the License Server Configurator the Server Status is Stopped. If I click start, after a long pause i get:
"Unable to start the license server."
Service Monitor gives a similar result. Everythings Status is green, exept for License Server (ADLM) which has a red status circle. It is version 4.0.35. When i click Start or restart It gives the message "unable to start"
Does anyone have any advice on how to get Smoke up and running? I'll be more then happy to provide more information if needed.
Thanks for you help everyone.

Hi Craig.
Let's take a look at the two ADLM log files and see if there's any detail on what prevents ADLM from running.
Please open the Terminal app from /Applications/Utilities and then type:
cat /var/log/autodesk/adlm_flexnetserver.log
Take a look at the output and post any error messages you find in that file.
Then run the following command:
cat /var/log/autodesk/Adlm.log
And see if there are any error messages.

Robert.

Hi Craig
Looks like we're dealing with a classic case of hostname problems. ![]()
The recommended setup is to have "127.0.0.1" (your Mac's internal localhost IP) in the license server config rather than your Mac's regular network name.
To fix this issue, please try the steps described in the following Knowkedge Base article:
http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/ps/dl/item?si
Please let me know if that article solved your problem.
If you encounter any other issues with Smoke, please don't hesitate to ask about them here or in the dedicated Smoke for Mac OS X forum on the AREA: http://area.autodesk.com/forum/autodesk-smoke-for-

I am having the same issue getting ADLM to run.
I attempted the fix listed, and still cannot get the License server to run.
What other fixes can you offer?
I've tried uninstalling and re-installing...still no results.
Desperate here, we have a very hot project that we need to work on, but are stuck in the mud...
Thanks in advance!

Hi Ksckreate.
Can you please post the output of the two logs I mentioned previously?
/var/log/autodesk/adlm_flexnetserver.log
and
/var/log/autodesk/Adlm.log
Thanks
Robert.

Hi. Thanks for posting the log files.
It looks like your problem is related to the Mac's hostname. Let's make sure your license files point to 127.0.0.1
Please type the following commands in a Terminal:
cat /usr/local/flexnetserver/adsk_server.lic | grep SERVER
cat /var/flexlm/autodesk.lic | grep SERVER
The output of each of these commands should start with SERVER 127.0.0.1
If you don't get 127.0.0.1 please let me know and I'll show you how to edit the files.
Thanks!
Robert.
