Hello,
We've been using Windows 2000 on our Network, running AutoCAD 2005. Just
recently we started adding Windows XP Pro workstations to our network.
Everything seems to run fine, but when accessing folders across the network
that contain .DWG files, Windows Explorer sometimes locks up or will take
between 15-20 seconds to display the files.
This only happens when DWG files are within the folder. The problem exists
if there are as low as 4 files, and as many as 100. When I access folders
that contain other files types (no DWG), such as jpg, .doc, pdf, etc, the
folders display the contents in an instant.
My view settings within Windows Explore are set to "List" files, but it
almost seems as if it were set to "Thumbnails". It seems as if Windows
Explorer is taking time to regenerate the Thumbnail images, even if not
being displayed.
Is there something I can do to prevent that from happening, like turn that
feature off, or at least speed things up?
Please help. This is very frustrating.
I've posted a similar question at a Microsoft Newsgroup, but this seems
somehow tied to AutoCAD because it only happens with AutoCAD files.
Thanks for the help.
Sam
