Save problem XP on Novell network

Have here a Acad 14 installed on Win XP Pro in a Netware 6 network.When we create a new drawing and try to save on a network drive we get an error : This filename is a reserved device name (No! I am not using AUX or LPT or so).
When we save it to C: it goes OK. and also when I edit an existing drawing I can save it to a network drive.
Found an issue in forums where it suggested to turn on Compatibility mode on Acad.exe to win98 compatability when I do this I get an error when starting Acad : Fatal error unhandled Access Violation Exception at 98927eh

B.t.w. it is a locked stand alone version of Autocad, only want to save my files on network drive

O.K. we're one step further, it seems to be caused by SP2 for the Novell client (4.83). Without SP2 it works fine, with sp2 it gives me the reserved device error.

We are haveing similar problems.

We are running Acad R14(unlocked), installed on the local workstation
under Windows 2000. We are using the Novell Client for Windows 2000,
ver 4.83, Service Pak 2.

Our drafting file server is running Novell 4.11.

Our main server (connected for e-mail, internet, admin serviices) runs
Novell 6. We use many servers in house for database and other
cad products. Our Acad users normally do not map these other drives.
Other servers generally run Novell 4.11 and NT 4.0.

When we do a saveas in Autocad we get the Autocad error dialog:
"The file name is a reserved device name. Please chose another name."

The only work around seems to be saveas to the local drive and then
copy to the server.

Any suggestions??????

Sure, here's a suggestion. You're running Windows 2000, Novell Client for
Windows 2000, and Acad for Windows 1997. Why not upgrade all the software
to the same level? Surely you're not still running Office 97, are you?
There have been so many improvements since R14!

It's apparently common to have problems saving over the network. Another
alternative would be to only save locally, and then use a separate tool to
synchronize your local folder with the network folder.

Well, thank you for the suggestion. I am not clear as yet, on where
the problem is. Should I convince my managers, to spend dollars
for a 100 + workstations and still have the same problem, I may need
another job!.....Anyway, we have the same problem with 2002 and
2004. Shucks!, whats a feller to do????

I believe the problem is in the Novell Client or maybe some
interaction with Novell 6. There seems to have been a long standing
problem with file locking. A search of the Novell Knowledgebase back
past 3.12 shows this problem. I just wish someone could fix it and
get this headache off my desk!!!!!!!!

Any other thoughts from the network guru's?????
