SDI System Variable

How can I set up the "multiple-drawing interface"? When I type "SDI" it has
3 as a default value. It doesn't allow me to change it to 0. What can I do?

What version of AutoCAD are you using? AFAIK, 3 has never been a legal value
for SDI ... only 0 and 1.

I'm using LDD3.

3 is a "legal" value as well as 2. But you can't manually set those values.
This is from the help file:

----------------------
0 Turns on multiple-drawing interface.
1 Turns off multiple-drawing interface.
2 (Read-only) Multiple-drawing interface is disabled because AutoCAD has
loaded an application that does not support multiple drawings. SDI setting 2
is not saved.
3 (Read-only) Multiple-drawing interface is disabled because the user has
set SDI to 1 and AutoCAD has loaded an application that does not support
multiple drawings. (SDI was set to 1 before the application was loaded.) SDI
setting 3 is not saved.

If SDI is set to 3, AutoCAD switches it back to 1 when the application
that doesn't support multiple drawings is unloaded.
----------------------

Juan,
Do you have any 3rd party add-ons? Or anything else loaded that is not
loaded from your base install of LDD3? If not, then it is LDD3 causing
this.

Hi,

I would suspect that CADOverlay has been loaded. It turns (at least 200oi and
if I remember correct, 2002) SDI on.

If that is the case they may want to look into the latest version of CAD
Overlay, now called "Raster Design", that probably (read: hopefully) doesn't
do this. www.autodesk.com/rasterdesign I don't know if it is MDI aware or
not since I don't use that software.

There are other 3rd party add-ons that do this as well.

Hi,

checked it and RD 3 indeed does not revert to SDI any longer. Then again it
might be an LDD3 addon (all the nice Civil Design packages inherited from
Softdesk...)
